These massive storks use their curved bills to scoop out animals from the water and eat them. They are endangered because of habitat loss and pollution. These birds live in wetlands that have been greatly damaged and urbanized, so they can not have a stable food source or nesting area. They nest in trees, but due to deforestation, they are not able to nest as often. Pollution of the wetlands and water they get their food from has poisoned some of the Saddle Billed Storks, and it is sometimes fatal.
